About the organisation
The Association « La Paternelle », founded in 1839, recognized public utility, has been designed for the protection, education and social rehabilitation of young offenders or handicapped or youth in moral danger.
The association has created in 1957 an establishment « Le Village des Jeunes » to accommodate young people with social difficulties.
La Paternelle tries to help
Young people who have difficult relationships with family members, or with society ;
Young people whose disorders are at the limit of their developmental capacities
It consists of
Therapeutic and educational institutional care with Professional Teaching
SESSAD: this is a service which helps young people who are outside the establishment to continue their studies or their education
The different missions:
They are located between education and care. To protect, look after, socialize, form, integrate, constitutes the base of the mission of the establishment.
They result in six dimension priorities:
Care, education and rehabilitation
Help and blooming of the teenager
School teaching and pre-professional training
Social autonomy and professional insertion
Accompaniment of the family
Brief history of the organisation
The Establishment, being installed on the site of “the colony penitentiary”, created in 1839 by F.A. Demetz, magistrate, adviser at the Court of Paris. It was a question of avoiding imprisonment of delinquent minors, by structuring their education by the training of the trades of agriculture and the agricultural craft industry.
This colony penitentiary agricultural was conceived like a village of reception (without walls). After the start La Paternelle has been a model of educational action at the national and international level. The beginning of the 20è century marks sound decline.
In 1953, Association “La Paternelle” one, decides to reinvest the buildings to install there a new educational site, of care and modern vocational training, called: “Village des Jeunes”. (Village of the young people).
Association La Paternelle officially became Association Atouts & Perspectives for all ages by ministerial decree on February 7, 2020.
This change of name was accompanied by a change of statutes which, as the name suggests, now allows the association to support any vulnerable audiences at any age of life.
