ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

The Association pour l'Enfance Heureuse was founded in 1960 by a group of friends - André and Paule Gomis, Philippe Viannay and Claire Richet - some of whom had known each other during the Resistance.

The association first established itself in a property near the small town of Vimoutiers in the Orne, to set up a Medico-Pedagogical Institute (IMP), approved on July 7, 1961 to receive 36 children, the establishment accommodates first children in October 1961. After 12 years spent in Vimoutiers, the establishment moved to Sologne, to the castle of Cerçay, in 1973.

The Maison des Enfants de Cerçay  then opened its doors in October 1973 after the completion of a first phase of work and obtaining approval. It was only in a second phase that she was able to acquire the common areas where classes are located today.

After the death of André Gomis (1 e association president), Philippe Viannay takes over the presidency of the association. The board was enlarged and brought together Philippe Viannay (chairman), Dr Jean-François Bloch-Lainé (vice-chairman), Claire J. Richet, Michel Charpentier, Jean Gemähling.

Over the years, Philippe Viannay, also founder of the Glénans sailing school and the Journalists Training Center, continues to open and expand the board of directors to the medical world (Dr Bertaux); associations (Roger Beaunez, Guy Raffi); in the world of the press and sport (Jacques Marchand, Ghislaine Bambuck, Marie-Odile Fargier). All were chosen for their attachment and interest in the Cerçay project and its development.
